Who is DRDO ?

DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organization) was established by the Government of India in 1962 as “Research and Development Organisation (R&DO)” to meet the needs of the Defence Department by engaging in scientific research and development activities and through coordination with other agencies. The name was later changed to Defence Research and Development Organisation. There are two parts to the Directorate General of Defence Research and Development, viz. The Research and Development System is the research and development infrastructure of the DRDO, which consists of four entities, viz., R&D Sector, Agile Concept Development Centre, Agile Industrial Centre and Agile System Engineering Centre.
