What is HTTP?
HTTP is an application layer protocol for distributed, collaborative, hypermedia information systems. A request, as you know, is a command or instructions. In our applications, the requests are the user requests, and the replies are the responses. To understand HTTP and how it works, we will need a little refresher on those three dots. They expose data like name, address, and credit card numbers to anyone who can find it. Often these web sites do not encrypt sensitive information. Information that could be used to steal your identity or steal a business’s bank account is easily available. This makes it difficult to be secure online. Many web sites and applications do not encrypt data.
The HTTP Protocol and Performance :
The HTTP Protocol is a simple network protocol that allows users to share information across a network by using hyperlinks. This way, instead of using a web browser to visit a website, you access it through a hyperlink. Once your data is downloaded by the server, it is retrieved for presentation by the browser. A web browser has to make a request and receive data before rendering the page. This data has to be sent as a text document (DHTML) file that is structured to fit on one page. This file format is called HTML.
The HTTP protocol requests a DHTML file and starts the transfer of data within seconds. This data is interpreted by the browser, and the display of the page is possible once it is downloaded.
