Brief History :
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) was established in the year 1962 as All India Council of the Probationers (AIBP) to assist the RBI in its requirements for probationers in the banking sector of India. The Institute was formerly known as Reserve Bank Probationers Selection Unit, till it was re-christened as Institute of Banking Personnel Selection in 2001. For the first time, the India Banks Probationers Selection held its recruitments in 2004. It was then recognized as the representative of the Probationers in the field of Banking Personnel. In 2006, the IBPS has been affiliated to the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
Purpose of IBPS Exam :
To help candidates meet the eligibility criteria for selection into professional courses through competitive examination such as Diploma in Banking and Finance (DBF), Diploma in Computer Applications (DCAM), Diploma in Personnel Management (DPM), Diploma in Probationary Banking and Finance (PBFB), and post graduate diploma in risk management and internal controls (PGDRM&IC). Purpose is achieved through the best practices of recruitment and placement of young undergraduates and postgraduates in central government establishments and government agencies such as RBI, FCI, BPSC, DBT, MTDC, CBDT, NABARD, ICWAI, FCIAP, CSIR, FCI, WICBI, CISCO, Bank of Baroda, All India Radio, CIPLA, SSC and others.

You need to have a B.Sc/B.E Degree Fresh Graduates .Junior Research Fellows (JRF) and Ph.D. Candidates must have been pursuing a degree in any discipline from a recognised university.Candidates should have passed their respective qualifying examination with not less than 50% marks in aggregate An annual percentage of marks score of total marks not lower than 45%.
General E.xams :
The written examination is conducted for the selection of Officers in various administrative cadres of the Indian Banking. The examination is held on the basis of the scores obtained in the recruitment test and an interview process. Complete list of various exams conducted by IBPS Mains exam for recruitment of Officer in ACRO: it is a competitive exam (Group D) with multiple choice questions. It lasts approximately 2.5 hours. Each question has three options. The time allotted for each question is 90 seconds (60 seconds for each answer, with no allowed step-over). There are 50 questions. It is designed to test the general awareness and reasoning abilities of the candidates. Candidates have to score 40 marks in order to qualify.
The first step in preparing for IBPS would be to create a checklist that will help you be prepared for the examination in every aspect.
