What is ISO?
ISO (Internationally Organization for Standardization) is a non-governmental, not-for-profit, technical standards development organization that develops, maintains, and promotes international standards for information and communication technology (ICT) and related fields. What is ISO/IEC Quality Management Systems : ISO/IEC 18000:2003 (also known as ISO 9001)? ISO/IEC 18000:2003 is a quality management system certification that helps ensure organizations to deliver quality products or services within the regulatory and legal requirements.
What are ISO standards?
ISO standards are commonly used to measure quality. It has authority in ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards, which allow it to evaluate products and services. Standards can be very simple, such as telling how many fluorescent bulbs have to be in a given room, or as complex as something as complicated as the International Standards for Traffic Control Devices. In many industries, there are formal ISO documents that define and establish regulatory requirements for those industries. These specifications are provided in an industry-specific format (as opposed to a one-size-fits-all industry standard), so as to avoid the risk of regulations being confused with standards.
Why would I want to use ISO standards?
ISO is the one standardization organization that has the bandwidth to be the judge and jury in the field of digital photography. The organization not only deals with the pictures themselves, but is involved with many aspects of the process in which the picture is captured, the post-processing, and even the printing and distribution of the final product. ISO is where your eye rests on your camera’s viewfinder and gives you a clear and precise idea of what the photo is composed of. Professional photographers employ ISO for their photography. Standard lenses typically offer a sharp image quality with consistent exposure. In contrast, landscape photographers often employ wider apertures in their lenses to achieve sharp results.
As the Internet of Things takes shape, having robust security in place will be absolutely vital for organizations to achieve compliance. The right information security framework can offer a powerful check on IoT device behavior, and with the right education for both the business and IT teams, IoT security can be addressed and mitigated. But the time and effort to implement effective security measures can be daunting, and should only be undertaken after due diligence has been done.
