What is the NTSE?
The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is a national level examination conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) for granting scholarships to the meritorious students studying in class 10th. NTSE first conducted in 1972 and then again in 2007 and 2015. The exam is conducted in multiple rounds in different languages. The first round is conducted in the National Capital Region (NCR) and the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The candidates selected in the National Test for English (NTSE) can get scholarships for special classes and internships with the governmental and non-governmental organizations. Under the category of secondary vocational training, they can get admission to technical, management, architecture and arts courses.
Who is eligible for the NTSE?
Students from across the country are eligible to take the NTSE or National Talent Search Examination, as it is a free exam. There is no age limit, but students studying in class 9th to class 12th are also eligible to participate in the exam. The test is conducted every year in March and September. Students are given 45 minutes to answer 120 multiple-choice questions.
What are the benefits of the NTSE?
The NTSE enables the students to receive scholarships from the central and state governments. Candidates should have at least 55 per cent marks in class 10th or 12th board exams, or be in the top 20 percentile in their respective board exams. They should also have selected Mathematics or Physics for the science paper in class 10th and Class 12th respectively.

Eligibility Criteria for NTSE A candidate must be between class 10th and 12th, with or without a father/mother/s. With or without an uncle/aunt/cousin/grandparents At least 80% marks in aggregate Must have passed class 10th in Hindi, English and/or Bangla, Maths and Science with / without computing/numerical Ability and carrying at least 5 different subject/s.
