What is RADAR?
The term RADAR is a shortening of Radio Detection And Ranging. It was developed to give early warning of potential enemy naval targets for naval warfare. RADAR is a complex military technology. It is used for air and ground combat to detect enemy troop movements. How does it work? The core technology of a radar system is to use radio waves to detect and track objects. The idea of a radar is simple – that objects emit radio waves and the radio waves are reflected off the object and detected by the receiver. The radar detects the reflections of these radio waves from the objects and the reflected waves are converted into digital signals and displayed on a screen. Radar can be used for many different purposes.
The History of RADAR :
The first radar developed by Albert E. Cohn of Bell Laboratories in 1942 and named AN/FPS-6, and then modified in 1943 by John R. Pierce to create the first operational Radar Bombers. In 1950, the Navy’s first long range ground-based radar was developed, the Pathfinder device, which was used to guide bombers into the North Vietnamese skies. While the US Air Force eventually developed a vastly superior tracking radar known as the Wescam Mk III, a Russian team created a new digital radar system with two huge antenna, the Sukhomel Radar. This one, developed by Theodore Ioseloff, is more of a surveillance device and is almost impossible to detect. Even today, it can detect targets a mile away. The Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system was initially introduced in the 1950s.
How does RADAR work?
The first radar was used during World War 2 and it has been highly refined since then to determine the distance, range and speed of aircraft. It works by bouncing radio waves off of targets. When the waves return, they are reflected back and detected by a receiver. Radars have a limited range of 300 to 1000 km. How do these radar systems work? What is the Radarsound system used for? Why is RADAR important?
Radar works on the same principle as ultrasound. It scans for objects. Radar can detect objects ranging from objects, to people, to cars. Because it is powered by radio waves, it has a range of around 80 kilometers (50 miles), compared to radar, which has a range of about 300 kilometers (200 miles). Radar is useful for detecting aircrafts and ships. Radar also detects license plates and other things that can be used to identify people. Radar can also detect areas with low amounts of reflection, which helps pinpoint the location of objects. For instance, the R&D center uses radar to detect if there are fires in a building. RADAR detects the heat given off by the fire and, with the help of cameras, can precisely identify the exact location of the fire.
